On average it takes me 1.5 hours to get to the office in th morning. The sad part is that I only travel 25km's from the south of Jhb to Sandton... Some days it takes me upto 2.5 hours to get home.

This morning I left home at 05h45, got to the office at 08h20... all because of some idiot creaming into another on the M1 highway, a few traffic lights out en-route and a roadblock, checking for outstanding fines... Now this gets even more exciting when you have a bored 2-year old daughter in the backseat. There's only so many times a grown-ass man can listen to nursery rhymes in the morning... lol

So here's an idea for the Jhb MetroCops, Goverment (joke grinning-smiley-045.gif ) and Dept of Transport.
1. At the scene of the accident, whoever is held up as a result of this, has the right to beat the k@k outta the oke that caused it.
2. It would be legal for you to also donner the Metrocops at the scene of the accident who doesn't make a concerted effort to mark out on the road where the accident took place and used their Ford Rangers or Ford Territory's to move the cars out of the way to free up the roads a bit.
3. Drivers caught on one of the many surveilance camera's in and around Jhb, who are clearly the cause said accidents ought to get fined for causing such chaos.
4. Cars that are stuckon the highways ought to be taken straight to the scrapyard and crushed.
5. The Minister of transport must be forced to sit in the Jhb peak hour traffic at least thrice a week in a Toyota Tazz with no A/C and powersteering to give him a clue as to what it's like for thousands of commuters out there. Introduction of the HOV lane is fine, but it needs to be enforced to make it work. Having metrocops on the side of the road talking s**t, and not telling okes with less than 3 occupants per vehicle to move over, doesn't help.
6. Road rage should be legalised!!!! If you know theres a 90% chance of getting f**ked up for driving like an idiot, you'll think twice about it.
7. Taxi-drivers must me made the new Metro Cops... They wil know how to get you out of the traffic and to your destination quicker. They will also get top the scene of and accident quicker, thus avoiding looooooong delays in the traffic. All current Metrocops can go work with all other useless people we know and say that saying we love to hear:"... welcome to McDonalds.."

I'm sure that will help!!!

Another thing is that Speed-fining (sitting behind a bush with a radar gun), does not prevent accidents and is not proper traffic policing!!!! I recieved a summons last night about a fine that I recieved in Fed 2007. The funny thing is that it was paid in March already and my reciept has the same reference number as the fine, so it has to be that one!!!!

The DoT is so useless, just like the rest of the Government (except SARS).

I vote Trevor Manual for PRESIDENT and Jake White for VP!!!! and that Manto, Jacob & Thabo go work at Mc Donalds too... I fall else fails, I'll have to call in Chuck Norris to come sort out these w@nkers....

lol

Living in JHB last year, I know what you mean. Coming from Cape Town, bumper to bumper traffic at 10pm at night is unheard of. Unless we had Kerry McGregor stripping in the middle of the N1. tongue.gif

I hear you bru... I've recently relocated here from CT where I lived in Newlands and worked in Cavendish (1,8Km's to be exact)... I already hate driving a hellevalot, now I gotta sit in the traffic...

The only time I actually enjoy driving is when I'm behind the wheel of my SX, but that's only on the weekends...

i used to love driving to and from work in cape town...
one of the most beautiful drives you can have...(table view to mowbray) about 45min-1hour

now, work is 10min away, but its a boring drive through residential area, no mountain to gaze at...*sigh*..

CORZZA
i live 20kms from work and it takes me 1hour to get to work and 40mins to get home.

And sydney is bad for traffic too.

but we have a great public transport system that helps alot too though.

No highways here either! the top speed road in sydney is 80 outside of a highway

well said!!

i dont know wat real traffic is!!

here in durban, i travel from tongaat to greyville via the N2, the only place it gets congested is the ungemi road offramp, which i go thru petroport and come out infront of most ppl wink.gif. and at spegetti junction {yellow line jobs} and tahts how i aviod the traffic!! and cop pulls me of, i give him the finger, scream and tell him read my plate and carry on!! i follow the taxis, so i dont give a shit! if a cop pulls of a taxi and fines him, then i'l stop, otherwise.. SE-WAK!!
